Ikaria's beaches are spread around a mountainous coastline, and very few of them sit next to a big car park. Some you can drive almost to the sand, some need a short walk down, and a few are best reached on foot or by boat. The wind matters too: the north coast can be rough on a meltemi day while the south stays calm, and the other way round. A car lets you choose on the morning instead of committing the night before.
