Arriving in Ikaria by Ferry: Ports, Late Arrivals and Your Rental Car

Most visitors reach Ikaria by boat, and the first question after booking a ticket is usually how to get from the quay to the room. Ikaria has two main ports on opposite sides of the island, and ferries from Piraeus often arrive late in the evening or in the early hours. There is no reliable bus waiting for every boat, and taxis can be scarce at peak times. A little planning makes the difference between a calm first night and standing on the quay with your luggage.
